Common Questions
How quickly can you come out?
I call every enquiry back myself, the same day it comes in, and get out to look at the roof as soon as I can fit it in. If you've got water coming in, tell me on the phone and it jumps the queue — I'll come out any time, day or night, weekends and bank holidays included.
Which areas do you cover?
Winchester, Eastleigh, and Basingstoke, and the areas around them. I'll travel further for the right job — up to about an hour and a half — so if you're just outside that, call and ask.
Is the quote really free? Will you pressure me to book?
Yes, completely free, with no pressure to book. You get a fixed written quote and time to think it over. I'll follow up once to check you've got what you need, then the decision's yours.
What does the 25-year guarantee cover?
It covers my workmanship on full roof replacements — if something goes wrong because of how I fitted it, I'll come back and put it right at no cost. You'll get a certificate of guarantee once the job's done, so it's confirmed in writing, not just a verbal promise.
Do you do small jobs, or only full roofs?
Both. Full roof replacements are the bigger end of it, but I also do repairs, chimneys, leadwork, guttering, fascias and soffits, conservatory roofs, and moss removal.
Do I get a fixed price or an estimate?
A fixed price for the work quoted — not a penny more. The one exception is if I can't inspect the rafters until the old roof's off; if that turns up a problem, I'll tell you straight away, in person and in writing, before doing anything further.
Are you insured?
Yes, I've got full liability insurance in place on every job. Happy to email over the details before any work starts — just ask.
Do I need to pay anything up front?
For smaller jobs, no — nothing until you're happy with the finished work. For new roof installs, I ask for a 10–20% deposit to cover scaffolding if needed, then the balance is due on completion once everything's cleared away and you're happy.
Will you use subcontractors, or is it your own team?
It's my own team — I'm on the tools myself, and I'm the one who calls you back, quotes the job, and inspects the roof. No work gets shipped out to subcontractors.
Will you leave a mess?
No. My team stays for the whole day, clears up as we go, and leaves the site clean and tidy — we don't just pack up and leave debris behind.
Why does it take longer than some other roofers?
I'd rather take the time to do a job properly than rush it to move on to the next one. It's quality over quantity — we take our time and get it right the first time.
